Hey Everyone! Happy New Year. I know, i know, it has already been eleven days into 2017. But it is never too late to make resolutions right? Never too late to make a change and better oneself.

So here I am, challenging myself to finding excitement in life again. For the longest time, I have been doing the same things over and over...going to work, hanging out with my boyfriend, going to the gym, etc. Instead of moving forward, it feels like I'm regressing...staying the same while the world is changing and being stuck in the monotonous life I've created. I don't feel excited anymore and I'm not growing as a person. Not that monotony is bad, but something inside of me is yearning for more.

Therefore, instead of waiting for things to "fall into my lap" or waiting for the "right time", I'm going to go out there and make things happen. I'm going to move out of my comfort zone and do things now because life is too short and there is no good time or the right time, there is only now.

The #IDareMyselfChallenge is straightforward. List down the things that you've been wanting to do but haven't and go do them this year! These to-do's don't have to be big bold ideas or complicated things. And more importantly, these things don't have to matter to anyone but you. As long as they make you happy, as long as they move you out of your comfort zone and excite you, that's all that matters. Start small, start now and start wherever you are! The list may grow and you may or may not achieve the things you've set out to do. But all that matters is trying and never giving up.

I will be blogging and instagramming these adventures as I journey along the year! I'm listing down my resolutions & documenting them down as a way to track my progress and to hold myself accountable. I'm also hoping that these posts will inspire most of you out there to take a leap of faith and do the things you've always wanted to do. I would love to see your progress. If you're up for the challenge, post pictures of your successful/failed attempts with the hashtag #IDareMyselfChallenge on Instagram to motivate each other.

Without further ado, here's my to do list for 2017.

  • Learn to make a pretty cupcake! Beautifully crafted desserts have been popping up in various cafes and I have been chasing these pretty eats like a puppy. I even commissioned some 3D cupcakes for my birthday last year. So in 2017, I'm getting myself signed up for a baking class and learning how to make these treats myself. I've never baked in my life and rarely cook, so this should be interesting.

  • Improve my photography skills. Checking out Instagram daily...yes, that's me! It makes me happy when I see pretty pictures...whether it's a travel, food, yoga or fashion related pic. Yes, I admit that going through Instagram can sometimes make me feel inadequate. Like, why can't I travel more, why can't I do that yoga pose, why can't I be that pretty? But most of the time, I choose to let this social media outlet be the source of my inspiration and motivation. "A picture paints a thousand words" and I want to take my pictures to the next level.

  • Choreograph a dance piece and record it down. I have been dancing for almost 7 years now. My dance "practice" consists of going to the gym and joining dance classes there about 1-2 times a week. On and off, I have attended some dance classes in certain dance studios as well. Dancing brings me joy and allows me to express myself. Instead of just following the steps of someone else, this year, I shall piece together a choreography that means something to me.

  • Deepen my yoga practice and by this, I mean mastering a few poses namely: Headstand, Handstand, Splits, King Pigeon, Bowpose and Dancer's Pose.

To end this post, I shall leave you with this quote by Erin Hanson - "And you ask "What if I fall?"Oh but my darling,What if you fly?”

Till next time,

Be Happy & Kind

Love,

Sylvia W
